ever hear somebody say, "trust your gut..."?.
or, like obe wan kenobe: "trust your feelings...."?.
have you ever followed that "little voice" that whispers to you that you should or should not do something?.
I agree GodZoo- it doesn't matter what other people think about what I believe. My experiences are mine alone, so the beliefs derived from those experiences can only be mine. I use the experiences I have to expand my beliefs and consider others beliefs to see if there is any value to adopt them, partially or in their entirety. Although I tend to form my beliefs from my experiences and not from what others tell me.
i am sorry that on my first post i am asking for help and advice but i am at my wits end.
i have been brought up a witness all my life and it is all i know.
i am an ex-elder and pioneer and i don't know anybody outside of the congregation.. i have been unhappy for so long and wanted to leave.
Fear is not going to help you in this instance. You need to make a plan, then the fear can dissipate and you can see what your next steps are. If you are in the U.S. Each county has services that can help you. The Red Cross provides housing assistance, so do many county organizations. There are job counsellors at the county too. From my leaving experience, it's rarely as bad as you are imagining. Deep breath, stop the fear, make a plan.
I moved more than a thousand miles away from where I grew up, to a place I didn't know a soul, or have any support system. I made it and you will too.

trey bundy: one year of reporting jw child abuse.
it’s been one year since trey bundy first reported the watchtower’s child abuse problems.. twelve months ago the center for investigative reporting (cir) began publishing information about jehovah’s witnesses and their cover-up of child sexual abuse on their website, reveal.
okay, so at the "imitate their faith" ca there was a special speaker from the gb.
and he started discussing psalms 1:1 and how we today could "sit in the seat of scoffers".
he then mentioned that many bros. and sisters criticize the org and think they are so smart by researching online.
list as an accomplishment on a resume, "i escaped from a mind control doomsday cult?".
sometimes when i reflect on it, the magnitude of this accomplishment amazes me..
No, although I am proud of myself for having the strength to leave it's a personal issue, not a professional accomplishment.
A mentor I had early in my career advised against discussing it with anyone at work as it could make me appear naive and gullible, for ever having been a part of it. That advice has served me well in my professional life.
i've been thinking this for a while.
even before the arc scandal.
it seems no matter what, the org.

wt claims their website is the 'most translated' and claims over 750 languages.
but in the drop down language menu there are only about 50. so where are the others?
we once experienced, the "you'll die at armegeddon," fear instilled into us as jw's.. was that worse or better than the fear of eternal torment instilled by more conventional religions?.
john spong gives his view.

I am not a member of any church, but I have visited on occasion (going with friends). The last church I went to was a Catholic Church, the service was very nice. The pastor talked about how to be better people and follow Jesus example of love and kindness. The service was very uplifting and enjoyable and there was a nursery/Sunday school program that the little ones seemed to enjoy.
There was no "OBEY or God will kill you talk" like at the Kingdom Hall.
